HAMMOND— A Hammond man was arrested on a count of first-degree murder Thursday morning after calling 911 to report he had shot his father, a Hammond Police Department spokesman said.
Robert Lafargue, 30, allegedly told police dispatchers that he had shot his father, Laurent Lafargue, 67, in the home they shared at 601 Rue Cannes, then surrendered without resistance when police arrived, Lt. Vince Giannobile said in a news release.
Laurent Lafargue was found in his bedroom, and paramedics were called to the scene before the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office was called, Giannobile said.
Robert Lafargue was arrested and taken to the Hammond Police Department for questioning, then booked into the Hammond City Jail prior to transfer to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite, Giannobile said.
