RUSH NAMED HONORARY CHAIRMAN: Dreams Come True of Louisiana has named Gordy Rush as its 2013 honorary chairman. Rush is vice president and market manager of Guaranty Broadcasting in Baton Rouge.
Rush, a native of Gretna and a graduate of Jesuit High School of New Orleans and LSU, has been with Guaranty Broadcasting since 1998 and in management since 2001.
Dreams Come True is a local nonprofit organization that grants dreams to local children with life-threatening illnesses. Dreams Come True was formed in 1983 and is comprised of volunteers and one paid employee. All money raised helps children in Louisiana.
BATISTE COMPLETES BASIC: Marine Corps Pvt. Terrick A. Batiste, son of Latikka S. Magee and stepson of Keel Charles, of Crowley, and grandson of Glendoria Magee, of Baker, earned the title of U.S. Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Batiste is a 2012 graduate of S.R. Butler High School of Huntsville, Ala.
WILSON COMPLETES BASIC: Marine Corps Pvt. Curtis T. Wilson, a 2010 graduate of Live Oak High School, Denham Springs, earned the title of U.S. Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
RICHARDS COMPLETES BASIC: Navy Seaman Recruit Hyacinth A. Richards, daughter of Sandra G. Richards, of Memphis, Tenn., and Huey L. Richards Sr., of Angola, La., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Richards is a 2012 graduate of Sheffield High School of Memphis, Tenn.
ANTHONY COMPLETES BASIC: Navy Seaman Christopher M. Anthony, grandson of Gertrude M. Wilkinson, of Holden, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill., with honors. Anthony is a 2010 graduate of Holden High School.
USS IWO JIMA: A reunion for all USS Iwo Jima (LPH2/LHD7) ships company and embarked Navy and Marine Corps personnel will be held Oct. 2-6 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in San Diego, Calif.
