Construction has begun on the Village Center of Rouzan, the 20-acre portion that includes the new public library, restaurants, shops, a Montessori school, apartments and townhomes, developer Tommy Spinosa announced Friday.
Spinosa didn’t disclose a dollar figure for this phase. Spokeswoman Molly Malloy, of Wright Feigley Communications, said the buildout of Village Center will take three to four years. The Village Center includes the portion that fronts Perkins Road.
The first building is being pre-leased through Latter & Blum, will include apartments and retail and is expected to open in the summer of 2014, she said.
“The Village Center will be the heart of Rouzan, the source of our social, commercial and cultural spirit, so we’ve been anxious to get this phase of the project under way and are excited to announce that we have broken ground,” Spinosa said in a news release.
Rouzan, located on 120 acres near Perkins and Glasgow Road, has two residential portions in various stages of development. The first phase of the Mimosa District has sold 18 of 26 custom home lots, with the majority of the sold lots completed, under construction or in for permit, Malloy said.
The next phase of residential construction, Creekside, is constructing four model homes that will be complete and open to the public mid-June.
