Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be celebrated with a fancy dinner. Sometimes, it’s the simplest ones that have the most appeal.
For those who don’t choose to dine out, a quiet meal at home can fit the bill quite nicely. For young families with school-age children or infants and those of us on the other end of the spectrum, it’s nice to make something special at home.
If you have little ones, hot sandwiches may fit the bill. Get out your heart-shaped cooker cutters and help them make hearts out of bread slices. The filling can be cooking in the slow cooker.
This is a good sandwich filling and a good way to use those boneless, skinless chicken breasts you might have stored in the freezer from a sale. Just add bell peppers, onions, seasonings and chili sauce. Serve with fruit, a salad or other sides. Just don’t forget the heart-shaped chocolates for dessert.
