Bundt cakes topic
for BSP meeting

President Phyllis Turner spoke about the history of bundt cakes and the Nothing Bundt Cake company when Laureate Alpha Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met on Jan. 22 at Ruth Mannen’s home.

Turner welcomed new member Maxine Muller to the chapter. Service Committee Chairwoman Marilyn Mayeux said a gift card for $165 will be bought for Laura Getz, who is seeking a lung transplant, and announced that the February service project will be helping the Mighty Moms provide food for needy children.

Military Officers hear ROTC cadet

LSU Army ROTC Cadet Shandricka Jackson spoke about her decision to join ROTC and about the daily life of a cadet when the Greater Baton Rouge Area Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America met on Jan. 29 at Drusilla Seafood Restaurant.

The chapter installed officers: Cmdr. Ray Fonti, president; Col. Ted Grant, first vice president; Lt. Col. Reggie Brown, second vice president; Maj. Rodney Breland, treasurer; Lt. Col. Paul McKeough, secretary; Jonnie Dorris, auxiliary liaison; Brig. Gen. Richard Avery, past president; Maj. Ted Jambon, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Brooks Adams, Lt. Col. Shaun McGarry and Lt. Col. Cal Robbins, directors.
