A Vermilion Parish grand jury on Tuesday charged a Maurice police officer with negligent homicide in a 2012 vehicular death, a prosecutor said.
Stanton Hardee, an assistant district attorney at the Vermilion Parish District Attorney’s Office, said a grand jury indicted the officer, Willis Thomas.
Thomas was on duty when he got into an accident Oct. 11 that killed 83-year-old Paul Suire and injured Suire’s wife, Hardee said.
