Seminar series set to help businesses
The Louisiana SBDC at Southeastern Louisiana University, along with the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce and other partners, will host a comprehensive series of workshops to test new business ideas and potentially get them started on the right path.
The seminar series, “From Employee to Entrepreneur” consists of five, three-hour sessions designed to prepare new entrepreneurs for the critical business planning process. Session topics include:
All classes will be in Walker at the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evenings in February and March. Seminars are free, but advance registration is required.

Domestic violence support group set
Women Outreaching Women will hold a support group at 10 a.m. Feb. 19 in Denham Springs. This meeting is open to women involved in domestic violence and/or survivors of domestic violence.

Group to perform two fairy tales
Southeastern Louisiana University’s Opera/Music Theatre Workshop will present two classic fairy tales, “Hansel & Gretel” and “Cendrillon” — better known as Cinderella — at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts.
Tickets are $21 for adults, $16 for seniors, Southeastern faculty/staff and non-Southeastern students, and $4 for children 12 and younger. Southeastern students are admitted free with their university ID.

Mardi Gras parade to float Saturday
The Krewe of Tickfaw Mardi Gras boat parade will be at 1 p.m. Saturday with Shelby from “Swamp People’ as king. It will start at Shelly O’Neal Estates Part 2 and float to Warsaw Marina, then to King’s Point and end at Tickfaw Boopalu’s where prizes will be awarded. Entries are being accepted at Boopalu’s and Warsaw Marina.

Youth group plans benefit dinner
The Youth Group of Accountability Church, 33719 La. 16, Watson, will hold a benefit Valentine dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday. The dinner is free, but tips will be accepted to the youth group who will serve the dinner. For more information, call (225) 665-4444.
