University High girls set to host Menard in soccer playoffs

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s girls soccer playoffs continue Tuesday in Baton Rouge with University High hosting a regional-round contest.

The third-seeded Cubs host No. 14 Menard-Alexandria at 6 p.m. for a Division III regional contest at BossField/Gill Stadium. UHS is not the only Baton Rouge Division III team set to play Tuesday.

Ninth-seeded Runnels travels to play No. 8 Opelousas Catholic at 3:30 p.m. Most of the other girls and boys teams are scheduled for regional action Wednesday.

St. Amant travels to play district rival Catholic High in boys Division I regional action set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Burbank Soccer Complex Field No. 6. The Bears are seeded sixth and St. Amant is a No. 11 seed.

Another boys contest is also set for Wednesday in Baton Rouge. In Division III, No. 2 Episcopal hosts No. 15 Rapides at 5 p.m.

A host of teams are scheduled to play regional contests on the road Wednesday. For example, three Division I girls teams travel to the Northshore. No. 9 Baton Rouge High is at No. 8 Mandeville at 6 p.m., No. 14 East Ascension is at No. 3 Fontainebleau-Mandeville at 5:30 p.m. and No. 16 Dutchtown is at top-seeded St. Scholastica in Covington. In Division III, the Episcopal girls play at Metairie Park Country Day at 3:30 p.m.

Also in Division I boys action, No. 9 Baton Rouge High travels to Lafayette to take on St. Thomas More at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. In Division II, the No. 15 St. Michael boys travel to Lake Charles to face No. 2 St. Louis Catholic at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The University High boys play their Division III regional contest at 3 p.m. in Hammond at St. Thomas Aquinas.
