Police: Pickpocket takes Super Bowl tickets

Police are searching for a pickpocket who stole seven Super Bowl tickets from a Harrah’s Casino customer late Saturday and fled into the Central Business District with a group of friends.

The victim and his family were leaving the casino from the Canal Street exit about 11 p.m. Saturday when the pickpocket watched them leave and followed them outside, said officer Garry Flot, a New Orleans Police Department spokesman.

The pickpocket pulled a white envelope with seven game tickets from the victim’s back pants pocket, walked back into the casino and immediately exited again, Flot said.

At that point the robber met up with four unidentified men and two unidentified women who waited for him.

The group ran down Canal Street toward the river and took a right toward Poydras Street and disappeared, Flot said.

Police described the pickpocket as a black man with a dark complexion in his mid 20s, between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-10 and weighing about 180 pounds. He wore a navy blue Adidas jogging suit with white stripes on the sleeves and sides of the pants. He also wore a dark knit cap and tennis shoes.

Anyone with information on these men’s identities can call Detective Michael Flores at (504) 658-6080.
