There is no doubt that Mardi Gras is in full swing in Jefferson Parish. Parades are scheduled Friday through Fat Tuesday on both the East and West Banks. And there are a few extra Carnival activities also planned.

And on Mardi Gras, it is the Krewe of Argus at 10 a.m., followed by the truck parades of the Elks Jeffersonians and the Krewe of Jefferson.
On the West Bank, the Krewe of Grela returns to the city of Gretna after a one-year hiatus on Fat Tuesday, rolling at 10 a.m.
The 20-float parade begins on Whitney Avenue near the West Bank Expressway.
Before the big celebration on Fat Tuesday, don’t forget about the annual Lundi Gras celebration in Kenner.
Rivertown is the back drop for the annual toast between the King and Queen of Argus, Raymond Brandt and Lydia Netterville, and the King and Queen of Zulu, Cedric Givens and Monica Givens.
Festivities get under way at 10 a.m. and includes food, entertainment and arts and crafts. Kenner Mayor Mike Yenni will preside over the event. Admission is free.
And finally, a new Carnival tradition begins this year on Lundi Gras when the newly formed Krewe of Hera and the longtime Krewe of Zeus will sponsor Lundi Fest beginning at noon along Veterans Square near Causeway Boulevard in Metairie. There will be food, arts and crafts, and music by the Vettes, the Lagniappe Brass Band and the Revivalists. Admission is free.
