East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a 35-year-old man Monday accused of ramming a man’s vehicle, cutting his head and robbing him on Oct. 6, booking records show.
An arrest warrant says the suspect used his car to ram the victim’s truck. The warrant does not say where the suspect and the victim were driving when the incident occurred.
The suspect then followed the victim to the Magnuson Hotel at 9999 Gwenadele Ave., Baton Rouge, where he chased the victim with a knife before cutting him and stealing his cellphone, the warrant says.
The suspect cut the victim’s head and bruised the victim’s face, the warrant says.
Rocky Miller, 33926 Courtney Lane, Watson, was booked into Parish Prison on one count each of armed robbery, aggravated battery, aggravated criminal damage to property and fugitive from justice.
East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies on Monday arrested an 18-year-old man accused of robbing two men of $1,300 at gunpoint Jan. 12, according to an arrest warrant. The victim told deputies he was sitting in his vehicle at a gas station at 1640 O’Neal Lane in Baton Rouge when the suspect sat in the rear of his vehicle before the robbery occurred, the warrant says.
Devontay Williams, 96 J.C. Williams Road, Denham Springs, was booked into Parish Prison on two counts of armed robbery.
Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man whom they say tried to buy two generators using a stolen cashier’s check in the fall.
The attempted purchase happened Oct. 22 at Bozeman Distributors, 11150 Airline Highway, Baton Rouge, Casey Rayborn Hicks, a spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, said in a news release Tuesday. The man presented a cashier’s check purportedly drawn from Citibank, Hicks said, but the bank has said it did not issue the check.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man with brown hair, 5 feet 8 inches tall, of medium build, Hicks said. The man was driving a black Chevrolet/GMC four-door pickup with chrome running boards and a brush guard on the front bumper, Hicks said. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (225) 389-5000.
Authorities arrested at least three people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Monday and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, booking records show.
