Woodlawn High Principal Daniel Edwards said on Friday that he has offered the school's head football coaching job to Destrehan High assistant coach Brett Beard.

Edwards said Beard's hiring is contingent on the finalization of paperwork and other procedures within the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. Edwards said he expects Beard to begin working at WHS as early as next week.

Beard replaces Don Jones, who resigned after last season. The Panthers were 1-9.
