Thursday’s “American Idol” will spotlight preliminary auditions held July 17 in New Orleans and follow-up auditions with “Idol” judges in Baton Rouge in October.
Recent commercials for the Fox reality singing competition series have featured glimpses of the judges at various downtown Baton Rouge spots. Baton Rouge native Randy Jackson returns as a judge for the show’s 12th season, while new judges are singers Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.
Last season, singer Joshua Ledet, of Westlake, finished third in the competition.
The show airs at 7 p.m. on WGMB, Channel 44 (cable Channel 6).
