The Eighth annual Feliciana Family and Friends Mardi Gras parade will roll through Clinton at 11 a.m. Feb. 2, with the theme, “Forward into the Future.” Entry forms for parade participation may be obtained at the Clinton Town Hall.
East Feliciana Parish School Superintendent Henderson Lewis Jr. will be the parade’s king, and Clinton native Ginger Andrews Hunt, founder of Primary Care Providers for a Healthy Feliciana Inc., will reign as queen.
East Feliciana High School football star Kendell Beckwith, an LSU recruit, will ride in the parade with the “Last of a Dying Breed” riding club. Disc jockey Austin James will be the grand marshal.

West Feliciana Parish will celebrate the school district’s A letter-grade ranking with an assembly at 6 p.m. Jan. 31 at the West Feliciana High School auditorium. The public is invited to attend.
Each school in the district will make a presentation during the program, and light refreshments will be served. West Feliciana is the third-highest performing district in the state.
A support group for grandparents raising grandchildren or other related children will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Baker branch library, 3501 Groom Road. The organization meets on the first Wednesday of each month.

The group also plans a spring dance on March 9 at the Kristenwood Catering Center on Greenwell Springs Road. Tickets are $5 per person.
Firefighters, officers, detectives and other personnel from the Zachary Fire and Police departments will compete Jan. 31 in a 6:30 p.m. flag football game in Zachary High’s Bronco Stadium. The cost of admission will be $1 and a canned food item, and tickets will be sold at the stadium entrance.
The proceeds will benefit fire and police department volunteer programs.
Lauren Field, director of the St. Francisville Area Foundation, will be the guest speaker for the 10 a.m. Wednesday coffee for members and guests of the Feliciana Chapter of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
Field will discuss the foundation’s gateways and corridor plan for West Feliciana Parish.
Online registration has begun for Zachary Youth Baseball and T-ball programs for children ages 4 to 15. The registration form can be found on the Zachary Parks and Recreation page of the city’s website, http://www.cityofzachary.org. On-site registration will be from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 2 at the Zachary Youth Park.
Fees are $55 for T-ball players and $70 for baseball players, ages 6-15.
