Vehicular accident damages gas line
A vehicle ran into a business on Burbank Drive near Gardere Lane and broke a natural gas pipe Monday afternoon, causing a temporary traffic shutdown, authorities said.
Authorities had warned drivers to avoid the area after a vehicle ran into a building at the corner of Burbank and Seaboard Drive, St. George Fire Department spokesman Eldon Ledoux said.
Firefighters from the St. George Fire Department and hazardous materials crews responded and waited for a gas company crew to cut off the gas service line, Ledoux said.
Authorities were not sure at this time why the vehicle ran off the roadway, State Police Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer said. Only minor injuries were reported in the accident, Sandifer said.
