“Although the academics are the main focus, you also get the chance to express yourself and show your talents with the multiple visual and performing arts that are offered. Being in a magnet school, you are also given the privilege of college trips, educational but entertaining field trips and field trips to places in and out of the state and country. I get the opportunity to meet new people and be introduced to different cultures and environments.”

Extra: Cummings enjoys art, dance and the Travel Club. A poster she made on the theme “Magnet Schools Transforming America Today for a Stronger Tomorrow” won first place for high school students on the district level and will be judged in May during the National Conference on Magnet Schools in Tulsa, Okla.
