Baton Rouge Community College will start its spring semester Jan. 28, six days after the originally scheduled start date.
Heavy rains during the past two weeks caused widespread power outages on the school’s Mid-City campus prompting the delay.
BRCC spokesman Steve Mitchell said he believes the power will be restored to campus buildings sometime this weekend.
Students are encouraged to use the school’s online system to make payments or add and drop classes, he said.
Administrators will post the full semester’s academic calendar on the school’s website once it is finalized, Mitchell said.
All but one campus building lost power Monday after the rains damaged the campus’ underground electrical distribution system, he said.
