There’s still time to nominate a deserving Louisiana student for the 2013 Louisiana Heroes Awards, a spokesman for Louisiana Public Broadcasting said this week.
Now in its 18th year, the awards program honors outstanding Louisiana students in grades 7-12 who have made a difference in their community, overcome adversity and inspired others.
The Baton Rouge Rotary Club and LPB sponsor the awards, which are underwritten by ExxonMobil.
For a nomination form, go to the LPB webpage at http://www.lpb.org/heroes. Backup material including support letters, newspaper clippings and other information on why the nominee is a Young Hero should also be sent with the nomination form. Anyone except the student can nominate someone for the award.
The deadline for nominations is Feb. 8. The winners will be announced March 3 on WLPB and WLAE in New Orleans. The Young Heroes and their families will be honored on April 17 with ceremonies at the Governor’s Mansion and at a Baton Rouge hotel.
