The Tangipahoa Volunteers for Family and Community Busy Bees, an all-volunteer arm of the LSU Extension Service, recently visited Loranger Elementary School to donate incentive gifts of soft sculptured fruits and vegetables for their Positive Affirmation program.

Local businesses and volunteer groups donate the small prizes and gifts, school officials said.

Students who demonstrate leadership characteristics and good behavior during the week can choose a prize.

The Bees donated the soft sculptures of fruits and vegetables as a way to remind children to eat more fruits and vegetables as a part of their “5 A Day the Color Way” parishwide project.
