LAFAYETTE — Businesses are needed to participate in Career Connections, a career exploration event that reaches 4,000 high school sophomores in a four-parish area.

The career expo enables students to explore different career paths and allows companies to discuss their careers with students. The event’s goal is to show students the connection between education and their career aspirations, organizers said in a news release.

High school sophomores from Lafayette, Iberia, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes participate in the event annually.

In the past years, students have asked for more companies in the following careers: dentists, plumbers, physicians, veterinarians, sociologists, psychologists and automotive technicians.

The event also features a “Reality Store,” an interactive activity that teaches students about expenses, such as housing and transportation.

Event sponsors are also needed.
