Competitors from four schools claimed the top awards at the fifth annual Kay Fenton Memorial Power Meet held Saturday at Episcopal.
“The meet went off without a hitch,” Episcopal coach Steve Baronich said. “There was some outstanding lifts today. It was a great way to start the season.”
Church Point’s Brett Richard and Jeffrey Johnson, of Walker, won the top individual awards in the boys division. Sarah Vogel, of Pope John Paul, II-Slidell and Brittny Wilson, of Port Allen, helped lead the girls division at the day long meet that attracted more than 250 lifters.
Church Point’s Richard was the boys top lifter on the lower weight platforms. He won the 148-pound weight class with a total lift of 1,160 pounds. Walker’s Johnson was the 275-pound class winner and was the outstanding lifter for the upper weights. Johnson had a total lift of 1,350.
Pope John Paul’s Vogel took top honors among the lower weight classes by winning the 114.5-pound class with a total lift of 650 pounds. PAHS’ Wilson was selected as the top lifter in the upper weight classes with a total lift of 955 in the super heavyweight class.
