CHALMETTE — The Knights of Nemesis Social Club and Parade will roll Saturday, Feb. 2, through Chalmette with 300 riders on 18 floats, captain Billy Showalter said. The parade first rolled just months after Hurricane Katrina devastated St. Bernard Parish.
The parade begins at the Civic Center on Judge Perez Drive and travels east on Judge Perez Drive, making a U-turn at Campagna Drive, then traveling west on Judge Perez and ending at Jean Lafitte Bouleveard.
The riders will throw krewe-emblazoned throws, T-shirts, medallion beads, cups, footballs, spears, Frisbees, bandanas, plush sports balls and foam swords.
Rita and Floyd Gue, officers of the Meraux Foundation, will serve as celebrity guests.
Royal Knight VIII is Ricky Gonzales, and Goddess Nemesis VIII is Amy Gonzales.
The Knights of Nemesis formed in 2004 to promote business and fellowship in the community.
The group first paraded on Feb. 6, 2006, just five months after Hurricane Katrina.
