Ascension Parish residents can recycle Christmas trees Saturday and Sunday at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, parish officials said.
Trees can be dropped off each day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center, 9039 St. Landry Road, Gonzales.
Parish officials said trees must not have any decorations or stands on them. Parish residents are required to provide valid identification showing proof of residency.
After entering the expo center’s main gate, signs will direct residents to a roped-off drop-off zone in the parking lot in front of Arena D.

Child Advocacy Services is looking for volunteers for its Court Appointed Special Advocates program.
CASA volunteers serve as “the voice for children in the community who have been victims of abuse and/or neglect,” CASA recruiter Krisy McAdams said in a news release.
CASA training for Ascension Parish volunteers will begin at 6 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Child Advocacy Services office, 1026 E. Worthey Road, Suite C, Gonzales. Volunteers must register for the training program by Wednesday.

Residents can design their own jewelry during a 6 p.m. Thursday program at the Ascension Parish Library’s Dutchtown branch.
The session will include lessons in basic skills needed to make jewelry and a demonstration on how to use the tools key to jewelry making.
Everyone attending will be able to design and make a necklace, bracelet or set of earrings to take home.
