Each week The Advocate asks a different “quiz taker” for his or her current favorites in pop culture.

QUIZ TAKER: Eric Engemann, 32, vice president, Baton Rouge Area Sports Foundation; sports administration instructor, LSU’s School of Kinesiology; and volunteer coordinator for the Louisiana Marathon.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: “Turned into a Spotify (online music service) junkie lately — I’ve had Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit on repeat for about a week now … good stuff.”

WHAT I’M READING: “Re-reading ‘The Tipping Point’ by Malcolm Gladwell. And I’m always waiting on Monday morning for the fresh edition of the Sports Business Journal.”

WHAT I’M WATCHING: “Not a big TV watcher (except live sporting events, of course), but my wife, Kacie, and I enjoy ‘Parenthood’ and, please don’t judge me, but I am a fan of ‘The Bachelor’ franchise.”

WHERE I’M SURFING (ON THE INTERNET): “I really just scan through my Twitter feed a couple of times a day to find interesting stuff to catch up on. I find it much more efficient than trolling on the same websites each day.”

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE? “Eating Kleinpeter’s Triple Chocolate Stampede on my couch while watching ‘The Bachelor’ — did it (Monday) night!”

BONUS QUESTION:

What is it like to find all the volunteers needed to make this weekend’s Louisiana Marathon work?

“It’s easier than it was last year! Large-scale events that require large numbers of volunteers don’t happen without tremendous community support. So many people, organizations and companies in our community have fully embraced the Louisiana Marathon that it makes my job easy. But we can always use more help!”

EVENT INFORMATION: The Louisiana Marathon begins at 7 a.m. Sunday in Downtown Baton Rouge, preceded by two days of events. The exhibition featuring running, health and fitness products and services runs Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Advocate Cypress 5K begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, and The Advocate Kids Marathon starts after its completion, but no earlier than 9:30 a.m. To volunteer, sign up at http://www.The
LouisianaMarathon.com.
