GROSSE TETE — A 47-year-old North Carolina man was killed Wednesday night when his car crossed the Interstate 10 median and collided with an oncoming pickup near Grosse Tete in Iberville Parish, a State Police Troop A spokesman said Thursday.
The victim, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from his car in the 8:50 p.m. crash, Trooper Jared Sandifer said.
Christopher Attinelli, of Charlotte, N.C., was driving a 1998 Ford Mustang east on I-10 when, for an unknown reason, the car crossed the median and struck a westbound 2000 Toyota pickup, Sandifer said.
The driver and passenger of the pickup suffered minor injuries.
Impairment is not suspected in the fatal crash and no one has been cited, Sandifer said.
Sandifer said I-10 West was closed for several hours as a result of the wreck.
