The Ascension Parish Recycling Road Show will be held Saturday at Wal-Mart in Prairieville.
A recycling vehicle will be stationed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the store’s parking lot on U.S. 61.
The types of material being accepted include newspapers and magazines, milk and juice cartons, cardboard, aluminum, tin or bimetal cans and metal lids and No. 1 or No. 7 plastic containers.

Auditions start Sunday for Ascension Community Theatre’s March production of “Amadeus.”
The play, directed by Lorna Culmone Bourgeois, will run March 7 to March 10 and March 14 to March 17.
Auditions are from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Pasqua Theater, 823 Felicity St., Gonzales.
There are speaking roles for seven men and one woman.
Food will be distributed Tuesday and Wednesday in Ascension through two programs designed to help residents and families in need of assistance, a news release from Ascension Parish government states.
The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and Ascension Parish’s Health Unit will be holding quarterly distributions of commodities in Ascension Parish from 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesday at the Lemann Memorial Center, 100 Clay St. in Donaldsonville, and at the same times Wednesday at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center on Landry Road in Gonzales.
The Food for Families program, a Catholic Charities organization, will be distributing food at the same times on both days.
Ascension Council on Aging is offering tai chi classes starting Jan. 16.
The six-week session, which will be held on Wednesdays, will cost $60. Classes will be available at the Gonzales Senior Center, 526 S. Irma Blvd., from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Preschoolers can learn pre-math skills during a “You Can Count on Mother Goose” four-week series that starts Wednesday at the Ascension Parish Library.
The preschool program will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the Ascension Parish Library in Dutchtown.

The Ascension Parish Library offers free small-business consulting on the second Monday of each month at the library in Galvez, 40300 La. 42.
Residents wanting to start or improve a small business receive a private, two-hour consultation designed to provide professional help in areas of business planning, financing, marketing and accounting, a news release from the library states.
The service is provided by the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southern University-Baton Rouge and is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
