A Prairieville man accused of stealing nearly $30,000 worth of guns and jewelry during a November residential burglary has been moved from Georgia to the Ascension Parish Jail to face prosecution in a rash of burglaries.
Shane Medine, 32, of 43461 Highway 42 in Prairieville is implicated in at least seven burglaries, according to an Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office news release.
Medine's girlfriend, Amber Gorenflo, 18, of 16473 Jay Road, was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail Nov. 7 on counts related to the November burglary, according to the release.
Gorenflo remains in the Ascension Parish Jail with bail set at $105,585.
Medine surrendered Dec. 10 to the Gwinnett County Police Department in Lawrenceville, Ga. After Medine waived extradition, he was transported to the Ascension Parish Jail on Dec. 30.
Medine was booked at the jail with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, simple burglary, 15 counts of felony theft of a firearm, simple criminal damage to property, possession of firearm by convicted felon and failure to register as a sex offender.
Medine's bail has been set at $70,292, according to the release.
Most of the property stolen has been recovered and returned to the victims, the Sheriff's Office reported.
