Happy New Year! I like to look at the new year as a chance to start fresh, maybe not make a full-blown resolution, but try and do things better — eat healthier, exercise a little more, be more thoughtful of others, be more fiscally responsible — you know the list. So, here’s to hoping that 2013 is a good year for all of us!
Sixteen debutantes took their formal bows at the Charity Ball Association’s Le Bal de Noël at the Crowne Plaza Dec. 29. Welcoming the several hundred members and guests were association President Randa Patrick and ball chairwomen Sandra Cox and Renée Smith. Myron Walker served as master of ceremonies for the evening.
The debs included Suzanne Bailey, daughter of Lauren and Lionel Bailey; Emily Bankston, daughter of Kelli and Dr. Brent Bankston; Katie Bonnecaze, daughter of Liz and Remi Bonnecaze; Molly Grace Brown, daughter of Missy and Daniel Robinson, and Mitch Brown, of Nashville; Rachel Storey Carver, daughter of Leslie and Dr. David Carver; Claire Karam, daughter of Mary and Dr. George Karam; Colleen Kerr, daughter of Eleanor and Pat Kerr; and Alexandra Matthew, daughter of Tater and Brian Matthew.
Also, Mary Michael McDuff, daughter of Ann and Michael McDuff; Caroline McKey, daughter of Jodi and Tim McKey; Mary Katherine Montes de Oca, daughter of Becky and Fermin Montes de Oca IV; Katherine Rossi, daughter of Debbie and Todd Rossi; Christine Schutte, daughter of Micheline and Dr. Robert Schutte; Logan Leighann Talbert, daughter of Susan and Kyle Talbert; Katie Wagaskey, daughter of Allison and Mark Wagaskey, of Atlanta; and Molly Ann Walke, daughter of Mary Leah and Martin Walke.
For their first dance, the debs took to the floor to “Thank Heaven for Little Girls.” Music for dancing was by Jubilation. Assisting with the ball were Andrea VanBurkleo, Connie Miller and Susan Donohue. Association officers also include Vice President Jennifer Strasner, Secretary Patti Newman, Treasurer Ellen Womack.

Events will run no later than four weeks after they have taken place. The date, place of the event and a contact name and phone number must be included. Photos may not include more than nine people and will be used on a space-available basis. Hard copy photos can be picked up in the lobby of The Advocate for up to three months after they run. By submitting photos to The Advocate, you agree that they can be published in any of The Advocate’s print or digital publications.
