Letter: Don’t raise taxes on middle class

The No. 1 thing we can do to help small business owners and the economy is to get consumer demand going by extending the tax cuts for the middle class. The vast majority of business owners make less than $250,000, yet we are being asked to pay more in taxes so that the wealthiest Americans don’t have to.

A poll shows that most of us are for letting tax cuts expire for those making more than $250,000. Yet our opinions are disregarded as we continue to be used as pawns in a game being played on the Senate floor by senators seeking tax cuts for the wealthiest. We wait, worry, and wonder where we will find the extra money in our family budgets to pay more taxes.

To those whom much is given, much is expected. Shouldn’t everyone just pay their fair share rather than straining the finances of the middle class?

We let our voices be heard in the last election with a resounding NO to more tax cuts for millionaires! If you choose to ignore us now, maybe we can get your attention when we vote you out of office.
