MORGAN CITY (AP) — Morgan City residents will pay a surcharge on electric bills beginning in January to pay for the installation of equipment at the Joseph Cefalu Steam Plant.
The Daily Review reports the City Council approved the surcharge last week. Residents will pay a surcharge of $2.25 per 1,000 kilowatt-hours used. The surcharge will expire after 12 months.
The levy is expected to raise about $385,000.
