Tornado has touched down in Zachary; Tornado warnings in effect in and around East Baton Rouge until 4 p.m.

A tornado has touched down in Zachary, according to Zachary Police Chief David McDavid.

McDavid said the tornado touched down around 3:04 p.m. but the exact location is not known. A tree has been reported on a house in Fennwood Street and there is fence damage on La. 64.

Tornado warnings are in effect for southeastern St. Helena parish, northern Tangipahoa, including the city of Amite.

At 3:46 p.m., the National Weather Service detected a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. The storm was 10 miles south of Greensburg moving east at 50 mph.

Other locations in the warning include but are not limited to Roseland and Wilmer.
