PORT BARRE — A Port Barre man faces counts of hit-and-run driving, negligent homicide and obstruction of justice in a Saturday accident that killed a bicyclist in St. Landry Parish, according to State Police.
Corey Doucet, 30, of Port Barre, was booked Sunday into St. Landry Parish jail in an accident that claimed the life of Betty J. Noel, 58, also of Port Barre, according to a news release from State Police.
Noel was struck while riding along La. 742 near St. Peter Avenue about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, according to State Police.
ABBEVILLE — An Abbeville man was killed Sunday when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a tractor hauling a sugarcane trailer, according to State Police.
Jamie P. Landry, 35, was northbound on La. 339 when for unknown reasons he crossed the center line and struck a tractor driven by Juan Reyes, 32, of Abbeville, according to State Police.
Landry suffered fatal injuries, and Reyes suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, State Police said.
