St. Amant High School students watched a mock crash demonstration put on by local law enforcement and emergency responders to educate students on the dangers of drunk-driving on Friday. The drill was possible through the combined efforts of the Louisiana State Police, St. Amant Fire Department, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, Acadian Ambulance, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and Church Funeral Services of St. Amant, school officials said.
“We’ll never know how many kids we reached, because they won’t be involved in a crash, and that’s a good thing,” Louisiana State Trooper Stephen Hammons said. The program will soon expand from Louisiana State Troop L and A areas, to also include Troop I, he said.
