A 59-year-old woman died Saturday after the car in which she was riding collided with another vehicle at Franklin Avenue and North Galvez Street, New Orleans police said.
A 17-year-old man was driving a tan Toyota Camry north on Franklin Avenue around 7 p.m. when he struck a blue Buick Park Avenue at the North Galvez intersection, police said in a news release.
The Buick Park Avenue was being driven by a 60-year-old woman traveling east on North Galvez Street, the release says.
The 60-year-old woman and her 59-year-old passenger were taken to a hospital where the 59-year-old woman died, the release says. The victim’s name was not released because family members have not been notified, police said.
The 60-year-old woman is in stable condition.
The crash is still under investigation, and the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office plans to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, the release says.
