Former Central High football coach Keith Menard has been hired as the coach at Central Lafourche High.
Menard spent the past three years as head coach at Catholic-New Iberia. He led CHSNI to an 8-3 record in Class 2A. Menard’s move was part of a chain-reaction that saw Carencro coach Brent Indest opting to return to Catholic-NI as head coach.
In addition, former CHSNI and University of Louisiana at Lafayette quarterback Michael Desormeaux, a CHSNI assistant, was named football coach at Class 1A Ascension Episcopal.
Menard, who has a 135-125 career record, compiled a 23-12 record in three years at CHSNI. He was 25-11 in a previous stint at another 2A school, Many High. Before that, Menard spent three seasons at Central.
The move to Mathews-based Central Lafourche marks a return to the bayou area for Menard, who played quarterback at nearby Nicholls State in the 1980s.
