Site plans for a Costco food club warehouse at the former Coca-Cola bottling plant near Interstate 12 and Airline Highway have been filed with the city-parish Planning Commission.
Mark Hebert, of Kurz & Hebert, confirmed earlier this week that the 15-acre property is still under contract but said the deal is not yet final.
According to the plans filed, Costco would put a 149,048-square-foot store and gas station on the site, as well as realigning part of Dawnadele Avenue on the west side of Airline.
Plans also show two potential outparcels, one of them 27,300 square feet, though those are not part of the site plan that could go before the planning commission as soon as next month.
Word got out in May that Costco, which is often seen as a popular alternative to Sam’s Club, was looking at the site.
Costco had made news weeks earlier by announcing it will build a $40 million, 148,000-square-foot store next year in New Orleans in the former Carrolton Shopping Center across from Xavier University.
