Looking for a festive family activity?

WHAT: BREC’s ZooLights 2012.

WHEN: 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Sunday; closed Christmas Eve and Christmas.

WHERE: BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo, 3601 Thomas Road, Baker.

ADMISSION & INFO: Adults/teens, $5; seniors, $4; ages 2-12 and Friends of the Zoo members, $3 per person. http://www.brzoo.org.

DETAILS: The mile-long trail through the zoo features more than 50 illuminated display sculptures of animals and traditional holiday displays.

Skating on the River

Get ready for some winter fun.

WHAT: River Center Skating on the River.

WHEN: Through Jan. 2 (except Christmas and New Year’s Day).

WHERE: Baton Rouge River Center Arena, 275 South River Road.

ADMISSION & INFO: $12 (includes one skate session, skate rental, small candy and small Coke). (225) 389-4940.

DETAILS: Multiple skating sessions are available most days. Each session is 90 minutes.

Film series

This is your last chance. The Pointe Coupee Parish Historical Society wraps up its series for 2012.

WHAT: “Last Friday Louisiana Film Series.”

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday.

DETAILS: Closing out the yearlong series of movies made in Louisiana and about life in the state will be the showing of Ernest Gaines’ “The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman.” The 1974 film stars Cicely Tyson and won nine Emmy Awards. The movie is free, and popcorn and cold drinks will be available.
