LAFAYETTE — Lafayette police are investigating three separate incidents in which women’s vehicles have been stolen at gunpoint, Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a news release.
Two of the incidents — in the 300 block of East Vermilion Street on Monday and in the 2000 block of Johnston Street on Thursday — may have been committed by the same person, Mouton said.
In those two incidents, the vehicles were found unoccupied a short time after the robbery.
The third incident occurred in the 1000 block of Foreman Drive and the bandit fled toward West Congress Street.
The robber in the two similar robberies is described as a black man who is 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs approximately 175 pounds and has a thin mustache.
The bandit in the Foreman Drive robbery is described as a black man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

LAFAYETTE — A 32-year-old man is accused of attacking his father with a samurai sword, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Capt. Kip Judice said.
Albert Brice Prejean of the 100 block of St. Esprit Road struck his father with a samurai sword at least four times, wounding him in his hand and arm, and as the two struggled, they fell and Prejean cut his leg, Judice said.
Judice said Prejean’s father went to the house to “counsel his son concerning domestic issues when the discussion escalated into a dispute.”
Prejean was transported to University Medical Center for treatment of his injury and will remain under guard until he can be transferred to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, Judice said.
Prejean’s father, who was not identified, was transported to a hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries, Judice said.
