NEW ORLEANS — Two people were killed and three others were wounded in separate shootings early Saturday in the Pines Village and Gert Town neighborhoods, New Orleans police said.
A 28-year-old man was shot and killed about 2 a.m. in Pines Village, police said in a news release.
Police found the man lying in the parking lot of a lounge in the 4300 block of Downman Road, police said in a news release.
The man, who was shot multiple times, later died at a hospital, the release says.
The man’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
About 2:40 a.m., one woman was killed and three others were wounded in the Gert Town shooting, police said.
Police found Tiara Reynolds, 26, lying on the sidewalk in the 2800 block of South Roman Street after she was shot multiple times, the release says.
Reynolds was pronounced dead on scene.
Three other victims — one woman and two men — were transported to a hospital, the release says.
A 32-year-old woman was shot in the arm and was listed in stable condition.
A man shot in his body was in stable condition, and another man with a head wound was listed in critical condition, the release says.
Police said Larry J. Haynes, 38, also known as “Sly,” is wanted in the shooting.
He faces prosecution on one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder, police said. Detectives have learned that the victims and Haynes, who is the boyfriend of the 32-year-old woman shot in the arm, were arguing outside a house when Haynes pulled out a gun and shot all four victims before running away, the release says.
Haynes previously was arrested on counts of first-degree murder during a crime, crack and marijuana possession, domestic violence, domestic violence and battery on a police officer, among other alleged crimes, the release says.
Detectives were still investigating the shootings, based on “promising leads,” the release says.
