Youth News for Friday, Dec. 7, 2012

The Talented Music String Orchestra and Choir, with student members from Baton Rouge Magnet, McKinley and Woodlawn high schools, will perform in concert at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Louisiana State Museum, 660 N. 4th St. in Baton Rouge.

The program will include such classical selections as “Gloria” by Antonio Vivaldi and “Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by J. S. Bach.

Simon finishes 10th overall

Megan Simon, of Lafayette Parish, was the 10th highest individual overall in the National 4‑H Poultry and Egg Conference in November in Louisville, Ky.

She also finished as the seventh highest individual in production hen judging and was part of the 10th overall place team for 4-H Poultry Judging. Her teammates included Brandee Chenevert, Amber LaPrarie and Ja’Cobi Simon, all of Pointe Coupee Parish.
