Deputies arrested a Denham Springs man on aggravated rape, kidnapping and other counts Friday in connection with a series of incidents that occurred earlier in the week.

Warrants allege that Dale N. Lachney, 26, held a knife on a woman, threatened to harm her and her family and struck her on the head with the butt of the weapon.

He raped her and forced her to go with him to her bank where he threatened to kill her if she did not withdraw money from an ATM, according to one of the warrants.

After he attempted unsuccessfully to get $500 from her account, Lachney drove away in the woman’s car and in possession of her cellphone, another of the warrants alleges.

A deputy contacted Lachney via the cellphone to tell him to return the vehicle, but Lachney refused to comply, the warrant from 21st Judicial District Court states.

The incidents occurred in Walker and Denham Springs on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, authorities reported.

Deputies located Lachney on Friday afternoon and took him into custody, Sheriff Jason Ard said.

Ard said the victim knew Lachney, who was being questioned Friday afternoon after his arrest.

Lachney later was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center, but bond had not been set early Friday evening.

Lachney faces prosecution on counts of aggravated rape, second-degree kidnapping, false imprisonment while armed with a dangerous weapon, aggravated battery, attempted armed robbery, felony theft of more than $500 and theft of a motor vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
