Deputies seek man in bank robbery

East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a white male who robbed the Chase Bank, 7171 Corporate Blvd., in Towne Center at about 3 p.m. Thursday, a spokeswoman said.

The man walked in the front door wearing dark jeans, a dark-colored jacket, sunglasses and a stocking cap, with no visible weapon, and gave the teller a note demanding money, spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said.

He then left out the front door with an undisclosed amount of money and walked toward the rear of the bank, Hicks said.

Five arrested on suspicion of DWI

Authorities arrested at least five people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

• Tynard Bessie, 35, 2631 Arbutus Ave., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, speeding, driver’s license suspended/revoked and motor vehicle registration.
• Audrey Corum, 22, 17701 Suma Lake Drive, Livingston, second-offense DWI, following too close and speeding.
• Carrie Humphreys, 35, 10858 Glen Watts Road, second-offense DWI, improper lane usage, reckless operation of a vehicle and driver’s license suspended/revoked.
• Brooks McMinn, 22, 2405 Brightside Drive, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, passing on the left, reckless operation of a vehicle and failure to yield at a private drive.
• Toni Passman, 50, 31289 Greenwell Springs Road, Greenwell Springs, first-offense DWI, failure to maintain control, possession of alcohol in vehicle and expired motor vehicle inspection.

Police arrest five on
illegal vendor charge

Baton Rouge police officers arrested five suspects for selling magazines door to door without the proper license Thursday afternoon, a spokesman said.

Officers arrested five people who were sitting in a white van near the 1900 block of Oleander St. about 12:30 p.m., after receiving several complaints from residents about groups of three to five people knocking on doors and peering into windows trying to sell magazines, spokesman Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said.

Officers arrested and booked the following suspects into Parish Prison on one
count each of operating as a “rolling vendor” without a license:

• D. Larry Wright, 29, 505 Brockington Road, Darlington, S.C.
• Ralphael Cooper, 22, 426 Westover Hills Blvd., Richmond, Va.
• Sheena Jackson, 23, 1201 Wallace St., Richmond, Va.
• William Rudolph, 21, 147 N. Carolina Ave., Atlantic City, N.J.
• Shawn McCrae, 23, 1307 Kienast Drive, Fayetteville, N.C.
