The annual Hometown Christmas celebration sponsored by the Slaughter Volunteer Fire Department will again feature snow — tons of it — from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in the area of the Town Hall. Vendors will be selling crafts, food and gifts, and activities for children are planned throughout the day.
The town’s Christmas parade will roll at 4 p.m., the snow field will open after the parade and the celebration will end with fireworks.
Saturday is a big day in Clinton, with more than 100 vendors lined up for the monthly Clinton Community Market, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The town’s Christmas parade starts at 10 a.m.
The Baker Heritage Museum’s annual Christmas Open House will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday of next week, starting at 6 p.m. The program includes a live Nativity scene, caroling, instrumental music by the Les Lanford family, hot chocolate and light refreshment. Cameras are welcome.
Feliciana Cellars Winery, La. 10 in Jackson, will hold its 12th annual wreath-making event from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free, and visitors may make wreaths with the cellar’s grape vines while enjoying Christmas music and free wine samples. Garden gloves are recommended for making the decorations.
The Grandparents Raising Grandchildren support group will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Baker branch library on Groom Road. Grandparents and other relatives raising children are invited to attend. The meeting will feature a guest speaker, door prizes and refreshments.
The West Feliciana Animal Humane Society will present adoptable dogs, puppies, cats and kittens at Parker Park in St. Francisville from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday during the Christmas in the Country celebration. Dogs in Christmas costumes will participate in the 2 p.m. Christmas parade.
The annual Christmas in the Country celebration in St. Francisville begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Town Hall and continues through the weekend, including the 2 p.m. parade and numerous other activities on Saturday. The Friends of the (West Feliciana) Library Christmas in the Country Tour of Homes on Sunday features six homes in the parish. Tickets will be available Sunday at the West Feliciana Historical Society, 11757 Ferdinand St.
Look for the Women’s Service League’s sale of fresh wreaths and plantation cooks books on Ferdinand Street from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Audubon State Historic Site in West Feliciana presents an 1810-style Colonial Christmas from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, with Oakley Plantation House decorated in holiday greenery, a holiday meal cooking in the kitchen and an 1810 militia encampment on the grounds.
From 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., candlelight tours of Oakley House will be offered, accompanied by live period music. Wassail and snacks will be available at the kitchen.
