The annual Ascension Senior Christmas Sock Hop kicks off at noon Friday in the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center gym.
The band will perform until 3 p.m.
Admission is free and open to all area seniors.
Pecan Grove Primary School will host its Fifth annual Winter Carnival from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in the school’s cafetorium.
Residents are invited to this free event.
Profits from the winter carnival will be used to help pay for a playground for the school.
Holiday music and book readings will be available throughout the morning at no charge.
Tickets will be sold for a pancake and sausage breakfast, photos with Santa, cake walks and gift raffles. Tickets are being pre-sold in the school office until 3 p.m. Friday and throughout the morning of the carnival.
Drawings for gift raffles begin at 11:30 a.m. and winners do not have to be present to win. Items for the raffle are being accepted. All donations may be dropped off at the school office.

Ascension Republican Women will hold its annual Christmas luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Clarion Inn, 1500 La. 30, Gonzales.
A musical program by the Dutchtown High School Choir will be featured. A special guest will be Louisiana Federation of Republican Women President June Williams, who will install the ARW 2013 officers.
Guests are welcome. Cost of the meal is $18. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling (225) 644-5728 or emailing ARWrUS@aol.com.
St. Elizabeth Hospital’s first Christmas open house and hospital tour will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the hospital, 1125 W. La. 30 in Gonzales.
Residents are invited to join in the Christmas celebration.
Christmas cookies, apple cider and hot chocolate will be served.
St. Elizabeth will be collecting new toys or monetary donations for the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Christmas Crusade for Children.
The hospital is raffling a chance to win a Christmas wreath. Participants must be present to win.

The Ascension Parish Library’s Carols in the Courtyard sing-a-long is set to start at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gonzales location.
Center Stage Performing Arts Academy owners Linda and Larry Schexnayder will lead those attending in popular and traditional carols.
After the singing, hot chocolate and holiday treats will be served.
The event is free.
