The Southern women’s basketball team will take another shot at scoring its first victory of the season at 11 a.m. Sunday when it faces Marshall in the A&M Classic in College Station, Texas.
The Jaguars (0-4) allowed host Texas A&M to shoot 60 percent in the second half during an 88-48 loss Friday night. The Aggies outrebounded Southern 52-20 for the game; Kendra Coleman had 11 points but was the only Jaguar to reach double figures.
That defeat dropped Southern into the consolation side of the four-team tournament, drawing a matchup with Marshall, which fell 67-46 to Marquette on Friday. The Thundering Herd (2-2) allowed Marquette to score 20 second-chance points.
Southern’s next action will come next weekend in Toledo, Ohio, for another four-team tournament. The Jaguars open against St. Bonaventure on Saturday, then would face Toledo or SIU-Edwardsville on Sunday.
