Baton Rouge police arrested a 22-year-old man Friday in the 2011 rape of a 13-year-old girl who was impregnated, an arrest warrant says.
The victim, who was raped between Nov. 1, 2011, and Dec. 31, 2011, gave birth to a girl on Aug. 1, the warrant says.
Police obtained a search warrant for Lynell Johnson’s DNA and the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab matched Johnson’s DNA profile to the infant’s DNA, the warrant says.
Johnson, 22, 8235 Southern Ave., Baton Rouge, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of aggravated rape.
A two-alarm fire at Baton Rouge Bus Maintenance early Friday closed Greenwell Springs Road from Victoria Drive to Lobdell Avenue for several hours before the section was reopened at noon, according to a Baton Rouge Fire Department news release.
Firefighters were called at 1:15 a.m., but the building at 7106 Greenwell Springs Road was already engulfed in flames and its roof collapsed shortly after firefighters arrived, the news release says.
The structure was a total loss, however, firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to a nearby second building owned by the same company, the news release says.
Fire Department Hazardous Materials units, ExxonMobil and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality also responded to the scene. The owner of the company hired OMI Environmental Solutions, a private contractor, to begin cleanup.
The fire resulted in an estimated $300,000 loss for the building and the contents. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was injured.
A second-floor bathroom space heater caused a fire that resulted in $75,000 in damage to a home at 12744 Greenwell Springs Road, according to the Central Fire Department.
The Fire Department was called to the scene at 9:44 p.m. Thursday night and the fire was under control by 10:20 p.m., a news release says.
The American Red Cross was called to help the family.
Authorities arrested at least two people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 p.m. Friday, booking records show.
