Dusty Manson, spotted at the National Philanthrophy Day Awards Luncheon

NAME: Dusty Manson

AGE: "Surely you jest! Old enough to know better than to buy 5-inch platform heels, but young enough to wear them anyway and just walk very slowly!"

OCCUPATION: Administrator for the local Association of Fundraising Professionals Chapter and Planned Giving Council, and a speech/language pathologist.

Tell us about what you're wearing. "A favorite novelty tapestry three-quarter-length coat; Doncaster Napa cream-colored leather skirt; a fabulous one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted statement necklace with stones; and really tall burgundy knee-length suede boots, both from Signature Shoes.

What's the best fashion advice you've ever gotten? "Life is short, buy the shoes!"

What's your favorite trend right now? "A tunic top over skinny jeans or leggings with ankle boots and a low-ride wide belt."

Finish this sentence. I splurge on... "Shoes, purses and jewelry if it calls to me."

I skimp on... "Not too much, I'm afraid to say."

Are you a shoe or handbag kind of woman?

"Definitely shoes.

How many pairs do you own?

"Quite a few ... way too many."

Name a celebrity whose closet you'd like to raid. "Candice Bergen."

What's the one beauty product you can't live without?

"Mascara."

What was your worst fashion mistake?

"Those really tacky floral 1970s gaucho pants."

Your house is on fire and you can grab only one thing out of your closet; what would it be?

"My vintage treasures: the 1960s bat-wing dress that hides absolutely every flaw, an antique amethyst ring from my great-aunt and a really great 1940s hat and silk handbag, as well as some truly fabulous animal skin booties with pointy toes and two zippers. You did mean to grab one outfit didn't you?"
