C.J. Pardue and Patrick Dees, of the Amite Fire Department, dressed in their firefighting gear as they spoke to Amite Elementary School students.
The students watched a video about fire safety.
Pardue spoke to the students about having a meeting place and to stay low if they are in a smoke-filled building.
The children practiced what to do if their clothes catch on fire and how to get out of a burning building. They also went into a smoke-filled trailer, then crawled out of it onto a slide.
