Another epic battle between LSU and Ole Miss is now history.
I thought Marty Mule’s article in Friday’s Advocate about the 1972 game, which I personally attended, was excellent. There was, however, a comment attributed to the Ole Miss safety, with which I must take exception.
He argued that Brad Davis did not have control of the ball as he crossed the goal line and that if we had had replay viewing then, “that play never would have stood.” He could have crossed the goal line with the ball not in his possession at all and caught the ball after he crossed the goal line and the result would be a touchdown.
Could the Ole Miss safety be confusing the goal line with the sideline? And besides, he’s talking about my personal dentist.
