NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Brady Attaway threw three touchdown passes as Stephen F. Austin defeated rival Northwestern State 34-17 in Southland Conference football Saturday afternoon in the season finale for both teams.
Attaway was 37-of-55 passing for 326 yards.
His touchdown passes found three different receivers: Aaron Thomas, Kris Lott and Cordell Roberson.
The score was tied at 10 at halftime, and at 17 at the end of the third quarter.
The Demons (4-7, 2-5, Southland) were unable to score in the fourth.
But the Lumberjacks had more success.
Gus Johnson made an 8-yard touchdown run.
Roberson caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from Attaway, and Jordan Wiggs added a field goal.
Brad Henderson was 13-of-29 for 168 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown pass to Rod Davis and a 16-yard one to Clifton Brown.
This is the first time in the past four years that the Lumberjacks (5-6, 4-3) will not have a winning season.
